Music while you eat…..

20 11 2009

Can really effect your personal satisfaction in that particular restaurant.

I will admit that this is slightly off my normal topic, but just bare with me while I share my ideas.

The other day I was eating a The Old Spaghetti Factory. I’ve never eaten there before. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was amazing, but something just seemed a little off. After a while it dawned on me, they were playing techno music. Techno in an Italtian restaurant. When I go into an Italian restaurant, I think of opera, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, something with love in the lyrics and rich, heavy musical stylings. Not something bumping and overwhelmingly upbeat.

At the same time I wouldn’t want to hear Christmas music at a Chinese restaurant (which I have), the Top 40 Countdown at a Mexican restaurant (which I have), or any other type of music at any ethnically particular eating facility. It’s just wrong, and the fact that these restaurants do it like it’s absolutely nothing bothers me.

I EAT AT A ‘FOREIGN FOOD’ RESTAURANT TO GET THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE! It’s like ordering chicken nuggets at a freakin’ Chinese restaurant. It’s just plain out sad and wrong.

So don’t do it. Please. Stick with the full atmosphere Spaghetti Factory. Please.
